![]() ![]() Paramore’s objective has never been commercial because they just love to make music. As an unbiased music journalist I would give this album five stars, but as a lifetime Paramore fan, I would simply tell you to listen to this album and share it with a friend. The tracks often provide contrasting lyrics and sound, which give fans something to think about with every line. This album, in particular, is an establishment of the band’s ability to overcome tragedy and make people smile at the same time. Paramore has been shape-shifting for over ten years and with every album, they establish their growth. "After Laughter" is an album no Paramore fan, no music fan, ever expected to come from the pop-punk band who used to play at Warped Tour. Are Hayley and Taylor officially parting from 2013 Paramore, just from Jeremy, or from something entirely different? “Tell Me How” channels “Last Hope” from the band’s last album in that it sounds like Hayley is really trying in her voice, by which I mean that she is combating some sort of emotional turmoil. The last song on the album gives a vibe of parting, which could mean a multitude of things. Backed up by orchestral strings, the lyrics, “hold on to hope if you got it,” and “they say that dreaming is free, but I wouldn’t care what it cost me,” are especially heart-breaking if you have been keeping up with Paramore’s use of the word “hope” over the past 12 years. Strictly reminiscent of “In The Mourning,” the new sound of Paramore takes the emotional content of the song and emphasizes it immensely. The ballads of the album reflect a sound similar to Paramore’s past songs such as “In The Mourning,” “Misguided Ghosts,” and “Last Hope,” With a look into Hayley Williams’ 26th year is the song “26” which, as a long-time Paramore fan I can say, you will need tissues for. ![]()
